Christian Financial Counseling And Advice

Christian financial counseling is much needed today since we cannot escape the need to have and use money. This can be a difficult problem for Christians since Jesus didn’t accumulate any monetary wealth while He was here on earth while emphasizing that we shouldn’t store up earthly treasures. This leaves us without the direct example that we would like. I’m not saying that He didn’t provide any direction at all; I’m saying that He didn’t take us by the hand and lead us like little children. We have to dig into His word to find out how we are to conduct our finances.

These are two of the many verses that help lead us to the proper relationship with work and money.

Proverbs 14:23 “All hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty.”

I believe that we are instructed to work so that we can provide for ourselves and our families. We are instructed to work honestly and fairly as though we were working for the Lord.

Malachi 3:10 “Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this, “says the Lord Almighty,” and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.”

From the wages that we receive from our work we are told that we are to tithe and to help others in need.

These directions from scripture become difficult when you don’t have your finances in order and are deep in debt, but it is not impossible to turn it around.
