Christian Music Reviews
I started listening to Christian Music about when my kids got old enough to start singing along with me as I listened to music while riding in my truck. Up until this point I had always enjoyed the popular rock music that was on the mainstream radio stations. In general I paid little attention to the lyrics and couldn't have told you what most of them were, even the songs that I liked the most. When singing along, I would just skip over any foul words and not pay much attention to it.
As my kids grew older and started singing along I wondered how I could explain the foul words in some of the songs. All of a sudden the words that I had paid little attention to before, were now sticking out now that I didn't want my kids to hear these words. I knew that I needed to make a change for them and me.
Knowing that God gives the talent that musicians use, I knew that there had to be bands out there using it to glorify Him. The only problem was that I didn't have any idea what Christian music buy.
Soon after deciding to change my music of choice we were at a Christian bookstore that also carried a selection of Christian CD's. They had a chart that compared the Christian bands to the secular bands, but it was still difficult to decide what CD to purchase. Since I knew that I had spent $17.00 more foolishly on many occasions in the past, I went ahead and purchased a CD and asked God to help me in my transition.
That first purchase was the Audio Adrenaline Hit Parade CD and has seen many hours of play by my children and me.
If you are trying to find Christian music to listen to don't give up, there are many bands out there, and you are sure to find at least one that fits your listening tastes. You too can turn your music listening into worship experiences.
To lay out some groundwork for the reviews here, I need to tell you what style of music that I like and grew up listening to. This will help you decide whether or not your tastes are similar to mine.
I grew up listening to music from the 1970’s and 1980’s. This included a wide array of music that included The Cars, Pat Benatar, The Kinks, Led Zeppelin, Donnie Iris, The Tubes, John Cougar Mellancamp, Pete Townsend and all of the others that were on the radio airwaves at that time. Later on in the 90’s I enjoyed bands such as Live and Seven Mary Three. I probably fit into some type of alternative rock category if I had to call it something. I was never too involved in country or the top 40 pop music. Give me some guitar, bass and drums and I was generally happy. I wasn’t looking for those with the best voices and I wanted to music to be lively.
To further help you I have also compared each of the CD's that I review with some of the others that are reviewed here.
There you have it. Keep this in mind as you read my Christian music reviews and how your tastes may differ from mine.
