Hunger For Holiness

Hunger For Holiness written by Stephen Gaukroger comes in a book that also contains two other books, Growing Your Gifts and Thirsty For God.

Hunger for Holiness is based on the book of Malachi. The book of Malachi is the last book of the Old Testament, the last prophet until John the Baptist. In general the book of Malachi is an exhortation to the Jewish people to return to the ways of God. We need this prodding even today.

This book hasn't been the most riveting book that I have read but it does get the message of our need to hunger for holiness across.

My favorite section is called Married to Christ, which is in chapter 4. This section tells of how we should take Christ with us in all we do. This is so simple but so easy to forget. I don't know how many times I thought that I could do things all by myself and later, after it is a mess, I cry out to God for help. We should be talking to Christ continually. Apostle Paul tells us to pray unceasingly. Stephen Gaukroger tells us "You are married to Christ. So, day by day, invite him into every aspect of your life, so that he becomes fully part of it".

Although this book has not been the best book that I've read it is a good solid exhortation to live a holy life and you sure can't beat three books for the price of one.

The chapters in the book include the following:

A God committed to his people
Worship that is worthy
A faithful representative
Commitment in personal relationships
A passion for justice
Integrity with money
A new freedom
Refuse to be average
