Law and Order Angels
Undercover Angels

Author: Bruce Cook

The role of law and order angels in the operation of God’s universe doesn’t corroborate with the image most people have of angels and their activities. Contemporary angel stories typically feature angels intervening to warn, protect or rescue, and these are valid ministries of angels all reported in scripture. Since God’s angels are active today, we need to be careful not to discount modern reports of angel encounters. We make a mistake though if we picture either God or his angels as little more than servants, eager to help us when we’re in need. God, though rich in mercy, does not hesitate to punish when society or an individual becomes entrenched in sin.

The function of law and order angels is not to discipline, correct or instruct sinners. Law and order angels punish sin. By the time law and order angels are involved the hope of repentance is past.

God does not rush to judgment. God does not send angels on missions of punishment until every avenue of redemption has been explored. What a wonderful goodness Gods delayed punishment is, so we can repent to moral and spiritual renewal and discover His forgiving grace.

We must remember that God will use his law and order angels. II Thessalonians 1:6-8 tells us that when Christ returns the angels will execute their law and order duties and those who have persecuted God’s people, will receive what their attitudes and actions deserve. Angels closely watch our lives to discover how the salvation we have been granted will find fresh expression in us. In the house of God there is a never-ending festival and the angel chorus makes eternal holiday. The presence of Gods face gives eternal joy and never fails.

Ezekiel 28:14-17 tells us that Satan was a cherubim prior to his fall. He was once the seal of perfection. The anointed cherub who covers and Satan was addressed as “O Covering Cherub“ before being cast out of heaven as a consequence of his pride.

We might ask ourselves today why Satan would have been so foolish to give up so much. But as God’s sons and daughters, aren’t we guilty of doing the same thing when we sin and don’t accept Him as our Lord and Savior? Though Satan was cast out of Heaven, unlike him, we can earnestly ask the Lord to forgive us of our transgressions, and truly repent, and then we will be allowed to enter into the kingdom of Heaven to spend eternity with Him.

Billy Graham says that demonic activity and Satan worship are on the increase in all parts of the world. The devil is alive and more at work than at any other time. The bible says that since he realizes his time is short, his activity will increase. Through his demonic influences, he does succeed in turning many away from true faith, but we can still say that his evil activities are countered for the people of God by his ministering spirits, the holy ones of the angelic order. They are vigorous in delivering the heirs of salvation from the stratagems of evil men. They cannot fail.

We should never assume that only the Billy Grahams of history are important. Anyone who reaches a single individual with the gospel is responding to angelic words. Angels witnessed Christ’s coming, His life, His death, and His resurrection, and they understand that all of this was for us. It is no wonder that angels, who as individual beings were endowed with emotions, rejoice when a single sinner turns to the Lord.

During my study of angels I have used many books along with my bible. One of the best books that I used to study from was a book titled, Every Good and Fallen Angel by Larry Richards. It was from this book that I gleaned most of this writing.
