No Name Face by Lifehouse
When I was searching for some good Christian music my wife bought No Name Face by Lifehouse and gave it to me as a present.
The first few times that I listened to the CD I thought that I would probably end up giving it back to her to put into her easy listening pile of CD’s. Somehow over the ensuing weeks No Name Face grew on me and has become one of my favorites.
Lifehouse came on strong back in 2000 with the release of the single Hanging By A Moment. I, of course, had heard this song many times on the radio and it had not prompted me to run out and purchase the CD even though it was a good song. It wasn’t what I was looking for at the time.
Lifehouse had not billed itself as a Christian band, but after listening to the CD it was obvious as the nose on your no name face.
Lifehouse isn’t the hard driving guitar and drum driven band that usually draws me, but somehow it is different. There are glimpses of the harder music throughout the CD and this, along with the lyrics probably keeps me involved. It is a long way from any screaming or rapping, much tamer than Skillet but still hasn’t fallen into the easy listening category. The best categorization would probably be a top 40 pop/rock style. The music is very good when listened to through headphones. There is a lot of music there that can be missed in the car with the windows down.
One of my favorite songs is the last song on the CD called Everything. The song starts rather slow and builds in intensity with a great message.
Part of the lyrics to Everything include:“How can I stand here with You and not be moved by YouWould You tell me how it could be any better than this Because Your all I wantYour all I need Your everything “Read the complete lyrics for Everything here.
