Sixpence None The Richer Divine Discontent
I had read some good things about the band Sixpence None The Richer so my wife was kind enough to buy me their CD Divine Discontent.
This CD is a little softer than the music that I normally listen to especially when compared to 12 Stones or Skillet but somehow it has caught on with me. It is not heavy on guitar or bass but the music still moves at a good pace. I guess I would say that is has pop/top 40 qualities to it but yet it is not just music for kids. As compared to the Newsboys this CD seems to have enough good musical qualities to keep me listening.
Divine Discontent is not at the top of my favorites list but yet I still enjoy listening to it. I almost do not know how to describe it. The review on MusicChristian.com calls it thought provoking modern rock.
My favorite song is track number 8, Paralyzed. Paralyzed is the hardest song on the CD and is one of my favorite songs of all of the CD’s that I have. This song, more than the others, relies on strong drum and guitar work with some interesting tempo changes. Do you suppose that is why I like it?
Would I recommend this CD…..Yes. Sixpence None The Richer is not for the hard rockers but it is good music.
Songs on the CD include:
Breathe Your Name
Down and Out of Time
Don’t Dream It’s Over
Waiting On the Sun
Melody of You
I’ve Been Waiting
Eyes Wide Open
Tension Is A Passing Note
A Million Parachutes
