Straight To The Throne
by: Dana Huffman
In the movie "Anna and the King" a young girl rushes desperately to the emperor's throne room door. Without hesitation she opens it. Ignoring those prostrate in fear on the floor, she dashes across the reverent room, scurries up the royal steps, and climbs into the emperor's lap. People are watching to see what will happen. Will she be rebuked and put down? Some are offended by such lack of decorum, but the emperor seems rather... well... delighted. In fact, he embraces the girl as she whispers her worry into his ear. His "official" business is set aside as he listens. Why? She is his daughter.
Once we receive Jesus we become sons and daughters of The King--- part of a lasting and powerful legacy, heirs of awesome, eternal things. We are given a high position and a great privilege--- entrance into God's throne room. We don't have to put in a request to see Him. We don't need to wait in line, or bow our way forward in hopes that He might lend an ear. We are family. We can fling open the throne room door and climb into His lap any time. Others may think us irreverent or out of line, but God's heart is delighted when we understand the position, make use of the privilege, and live in the freedom Jesus died to give us.
Since we have...Jesus...Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. Hebrews 4:14-16 NIV
